The Replica project team activity and the results of the studies on the reduced cytotoxicity and inflammation induced by cigarette smoke and ENDS aerosol will be presented during the XVI edition of the Congress of the Italian Federation of Life Sciences (FISV), which represents over 10.0000 Italian scientists and which will take place from 14 to 16 September 2022 in Naples
Electronic nicotine delivery systems and the use of low risk products are at the core of the scientific debate: evaluating objective data on the reduced toxicity of ENDS and heated tobacco products means not only to help thousands of smokers around the world making different health choices, but above all providing healthcare professionals and doctors with useful information to start a constructive dialogue on the health possibilities represented by these tools.
The Replica project is one-of-a-kind research activity: a team of independent laboratories has replicated and validated the results of the most important international studies in the field. Data confirmed the reduced cytotoxicity of ENDS products compared with smoking, thus providing a valuable tool for harm reduction strategies in smokers .
Data obtained have been presented at some of the most influential scientific congresses and will be presented during the “XVI edition of the Congress of the Italian Federation of Life Sciences (FISV)– 3R: Research, Resilience, Reprise“, which will take place from 14 to 16 September 2022 in Naples at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Department of Agriculture, located in the historical Reggia di Portici.
Alfio di Stefano will represent the Replica project team and will brief the participants, representatives of twenty different Italian scientific societies, on the abstract “Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) vs Cigarettes: ENDS have demonstrated lower toxicity – “The Replica Study Experience”.
FISV is presently composed by twenty Scientific Societies (AAI, ABCD, ADRITELF, AGI, BITS, SIB, SIBBM, SIBE, SIBS, SIBV, SICA, SIF (The Italian Society of Pharmacology), SIF (The Physiological Society of Italy), SIGA, SIGU, SIMAG, SIMGBM, SIP MeT, SIPaV, SITOX), representing different aspects of the Life Sciences.
